To Extract and Use Red Cabbage Indicator

 

Method:
  • Fill two beakers with water.
  • Tear up red cabbage and add to beaker.

  • Heat to boiling point.

  • Allow to cool, pour into another beaker.

  • Add acidic, neutral and alkaline solutions to three different test tubes.

  • Add several pieces of red cabbage to each test tube using a dropper.

  • Shake and observe.

Result: The indicator turns red in acidic, blue in neutral and green in alkaline solution.

 

·        Conclusion: Red Cabbage contains a chemical that acts as an indicator.
