Dear Parent/Guardian,

I hope you and your family had a nice summer break.  Below is some important information for the coming term. 

School Mass - The opening of the School Year Mass will be celebrated in Kildysart Church on Friday 24th at 12.30p.m.  Parents and friends are welcome.

 

First Years - An evening for first years and their parents will take place on September 27th.  We will begin with mass at 8p.m.

 

Anti-bullying - course for 1st years will begin on Wednesday September 15th.  This course will continue for 5 weeks and its aim is to create awareness around bullying and enable students have a strategy to take responsibility for each other. 

 

Absenteeism - It is very important that you son/daughter attends school regularly.  In the event of absenteeism please phone the school before 11a.m.  The National Welfare board will have to be notified if your son/daughter is absent over 20 days in the school year.  

 

Study Skills - On October 4th at 8p.m.  Dr Fidelma Healy-Eames will talk to parents on the importance of study.  The cost of the evening is 450.  A donation of 5 would be appreciated.  

 

Evening Study - Students can study from 4.15p.m. - 7p.m. from September 13th.  The cost is €2 per evening - €60 up to Halloween.

 

Parent-Teacher Meetings -  Junior and Leaving Cert., October 18th from 6.30 to 8.30p.m.

First years, Second years and fifth years, January 18th from 3 to 5p.m.

 

Lockers - there is a cost of €20 for first years and €10 for other students. 

 

General Expenses - €60 for a family, €50 for two students and €30 for one student.  The money is used for 24 hour insurance for each student, school journals and photocopying. 

Holidays - the Halloween break is from 25th-29th October.  The 8th December is a Church and School holiday. 

 

Christmas Exams - begin 29th November

Christmas Holidays - 22nd December 2004 - 10th January 2005

 

National Ploughing Championship - The school is not organising any trips to this event.  There has been confusion over this in the past. 

 

Mid-West Careers Exhibition - At Limerick Racecourse October 5th.  It is expected that all 5th years and Leaving Cert students will attend.
